聶懷桑因主導著整個故事的後半段變化，被觀眾們封為聶導。而我真心認為聶導在劇中，是與雙男主完全不同領域的另一位高人；各位看官有沒有注意到，藍湛成為仙督後，可是給聶導回了個好大的拜禮，在此之前，除了要聶導取出祭刀堂的刀外，藍湛可從來不給懷桑行禮或回禮的。

一刷看完後，覺得聶懷桑人符其名，是個默默的，秘密的把一切所需準備好的人。他做的所有佈局，雖然是為了替哥哥報仇，但不可否認的，他也是促成了魏嬰和藍湛重逢並回復名譽的重要人物。從各個巧局之中他所準備的道具及人力，可以知道他籌劃得有多麼細緻；為何是「默默，秘密的準備一切所需」呢？那得從名字的字義再加上想像力著手：
After watching this play for the first time, I felt that Nie Huaisang was a man who lived up to his name, and was a silent, secretive person who prepared everything needed. Although all the arrangements he made were to avenge his older brother, it is undeniable that he was also an important person who helped Wei Ying and Lan Zhan reunite and restore Wei Ying's reputation.
